Doctor’s Note #013

After the Storm

This week was supposed to be simple.

The plan was to get a photoshoot and video shoot done for my new single, “Island Go Slow,” get everything ready, and have the content lined up around the release on Friday.

Simple, right?

Yeah… Mother Nature had other plans.

We originally scheduled the shoot for early Thursday. The goal was to knock everything out before the song officially dropped Friday so I could have the photos and visuals ready to go.

Then Thursday came.

Rain.

Not just a little rain either. It got to the point where it started thundering outside.

At that point, I’m thinking, Mother Nature really does NOT want me to shoot this video.

Since everything we wanted to do was outside, there was really no point in forcing it. We decided to move the shoot to Friday morning instead.

Cool. No problem.

Friday morning comes around, I check the weather app, and what do I see?

RAIN AGAIN.

At this point, I was pissed off.

We already lost Thursday, the song was officially dropping Friday, and now the weather was telling us that Friday wasn’t looking good either. So instead of taking another chance, we decided to push everything back one more time and schedule the shoot for Saturday.

And here’s where it gets disrespectful.

THE FUCKING SUN WAS OUT ALL DAY FRIDAY.

😂

No rain. No storm. No thunder. Just sunshine.

Now I’m convinced Mother Nature was fucking with me personally.

At this moment, everybody was getting it. I was yelling at everyone. My manager. My content shooter. EVERYONE! I even shot a flare gun at my team mate on stream playing Fortnite. (Sorry Diamond)

But Saturday morning finally came, we got everything together, headed out, and this time…

WE GOT IT DONE.

And honestly, everything came out amazing.

We were able to get the full photoshoot done, and we also shot a mini video where I talked about “Island Go Slow” and gave a brief explanation of the idea and feeling behind the record. (Video up on my Instagram)

After spending the week watching weather apps, rescheduling shoots, getting frustrated, and wondering if we were ever going to get this done, everything finally came together.

Sometimes things just don’t happen exactly when you planned them to happen.

You can have the schedule ready.
You can have the vision ready.
You can have everybody ready to work.

And then something completely outside of your control comes along and says, “Not today.”

The only thing you can really do is adjust and keep moving.

And that’s exactly what we did.

The storm passed.

The shoot happened.

The photos came out fire.

The video got done.

And most importantly…

“ISLAND GO SLOW” IS OFFICIALLY OUT NOW ON ALL MAJOR STREAMING PLATFORMS. 🌴🌊

So after everything we went through this week…

Thank you, Mother Nature.

You pissed me off, but we got there eventually. 😂
